Everything Points to This | Hebrews 8:1-13

1. Why is Jesus sitting down important in this chapter? What is the significance of Him being seated?

2. This morning we said, “In Jesus we are not working FOR approval, we are working FROM approval.” What does that statement mean? How does that change our perspective as followers of Christ?

3. How do the temple, the priests, and the Law serve as a copy, or shadow of heavenly things? Why is it so easy for us to allow religion and rules to become objects of our worship, when they were intended to point us towards Jesus?

4. Read verse 6 again. How does Jesus serve as a mediator? What is the “better covenant“ Hebrews 8 is talking about?

5. Reads Job 9: 33. Is Hebrews telling us that Jesus is exactly what Job was crying out for? What encouragement does this give to you?

6. The world will tell you God is out to get you, but the Gospel tells us God will move Heaven and Earth to redeem you. How does that truth push you closer to Jesus today? Is it difficult for you to believe God cares deeply for you?

7. Read Jeremiah 31: 31-34. Why does Hebrews 8 quote these verses? What is this telling us about the faithfulness of God?
