Here’s Your Sign!
This week, Pastor Rick walked through Matthew 16:1–12, where the Pharisees and Sadducees demand a sign from Jesus. Though these two groups disagreed on almost everything, they united in their opposition to Christ—proof that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Jesus rebuked them for being able to read the weather but missing “the signs of the times,” reminding them that the only sign they would receive was “the sign of Jonah,” ultimately fulfilled in His death and resurrection.
Pastor Rick also warned about the “leaven” of false teaching—the subtle mix of unbelief and legalism that can drain the power from our faith and shift our focus from a living relationship with Jesus to empty religious activity. The true proof we need has already been given in the resurrection, and the signs of God’s work are all around us in changed lives, healed bodies, and restored relationships.
