The Demands of Discipleship | Matthew 16:24-28
Rick Lemons   -

This week, Pastor Rick concluded Matthew 16 by focusing on Jesus’ words about the demands of discipleship. Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him—valuing the eternal over the temporary. Pastor Rick showed how this involves giving up whatever we love more than Christ, accepting the specific responsibility God has given each of us, and recognizing that following Jesus is deeply personal.

He also reminded the church that serving Christ means dying to self and trusting that our present “light and momentary” afflictions are preparing for us an eternal glory beyond comparison. True followers keep their eyes on Jesus in both mountaintops and valleys, letting Him lead wherever He chooses. Listen to or watch the full sermon today.
